Cadet corps / squadrons staff is comprised of members of Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC), part-time Canadian Forces Officers responsible for training and adminsitration of Cadets. In addition, other Canadian Forces members and civilian instructors may be part of the local staff.

820 Squadron History:
Since 1972, close to 800 young men and women have received aviation and military training in Milton as members of 820 Squadron.  They have learned aviation related subjects, drill, leadership, citizenship and the value of community service.

Through regular attendance and good performance, Cadets may qualify for a number of summer courses provided by the Canadian Forces. Camps range from two weeks for newer Cadets to Leadership Courses and International Exchanges for senior Cadets.
820 Squadron is very proud that since its establishment 51 Cadets have earned their Glider or Private Pilot´s License through our programs. This is an amazing record! Many of our Cadets have moved on to careers in the military and commercial aviation.

820 Squadron Today:

Cadets offer friendship, fun, adventure and challenges! Expand your horizons and make friends for life. Join us at 820 Squadron.  We meet Mondays , 1820-2100 hrs. at Country Heritage Park Milton District High School and enjoy numerous weekend activities throughout the year.

What does it cost to join? There are no registration fees or dues for the basic Cadet Program. Additionally, there is no cost for uniforms.  The Canadian Forces loan complete uniforms to Cadets and in return expect Cadets to take good care of their uniform. Cadets are required to participate in fundraising to pay for expenses not covered by National Defence such as squadron accommodations, and some tours and events. Fundraising support by parents is encouraged.
Cadets are not part of the Canadian Forces, nor is there any expectation for them to join the military.

The staff is responsible for all aspects of training and administration for the units.

  • supervising cadets
  • issuing uniforms and training aids
  • taking care of cadet training/ activities, including administration and paperwork
